Clinical Chemistry - Heart Type Fatty Acid Binding Protein
Heart Type Fatty Acid Binding Protein (H-FABP) is well recognised for its clinical utility in the diagnosis of cardiac events. More specifically, its low molecular weight and cytoplasmic location enables it to be a highly sensitive, early risk marker of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). However, its diagnostic power extends past cardiac concerns as research has found that it also has potential benefit in the diagnosis of cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury (CSA-AKI)
