Damage or inflammation to the pancreas can result in under / over production of amylase which can be a sign of pancreatic disorder which includes pancreatic pseudocyst, pancreatic abscess, pancreatic cancer, gallbladder disease, mumps or ectopic pregnancy. The Randox assay is used for the quantitative in vitro determination of amylase activity in serum, urine and plasma.
